  • Academic Scholars Offered in Middle Schools

As part of our mission to educate and empower all students to be college and career ready graduates, a strengthened and highly rigorous program for our high-achieving students has been implemented at the middle school level. This program, known as the Academic Scholars Program, began in the 2014-2015 school year. Academic Scholars Program provides a framework of learning which encourages students to become creative, critical, and reflective thinkers.

Offered in all four academic classes in the 6th and 7th grades for the 2015-2016 school year, and adding 8th grade in the 2016-2017 school year, the Academic Scholars Program provides intellectual and creative challenges to help students become skilled problem solvers and critical thinkers. In addition, the program incorporates project-based learning to give hands-on opportunities for students to learn, fostering the development of skills for communication, understanding, and team building, qualities that are essential for life in the 21st century.
